The facility boasts a state-of-the-art member branch and collaborative employee workspaces.
Anheuser-Busch Employees’ Credit Union (ABECU) and its divisions, American Eagle Credit Union and Purina Credit Union, celebrate the grand opening of its new headquarters and member branch at 423 Lynch Street. The credit union expands in St. Louis and celebrates its $14.3 million project in St. Louis. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Wednesday August 29th featuring Congressman William “Lacy” Clay, Otis Williams, executive director of the St. Louis Development Corporation (SLDC), and Lewis Reed, president of the Board of Aldermen in St. Louis.
Additionally, St. Louis Economic Development Partnership was a key partner in the project. With the new headquarters, ABECU worked closely with the City of St. Louis to hire local laborers to transform a previously unused space into an updated, collaborative workspace for its more than 280 employees, 30 of which are relocating from around the St. Louis region.
The AB Credit Union has a strong presence in both St. Louis and across the U.S. with 400 employees, which includes around $1.6B in assets under management. The Credit Union is excited to bolster their presence and have a more permanent home in the St. Louis region. “The AB Credit Union has brought a lot of excitement to the St. Louis economic landscape, and we at SLDC are thrilled to be a part of its steady long-term growth, ” said Otis Williams, President of St. Louis Development Corporation.
“We’re excited for the opening of the new Anheuser-Busch Employee’s Credit Union headquarters right here in the City of St. Louis,” said Mayor of the City of St. Louis, Lyda Krewson. “This will create good jobs and make a positive economic impact on both the city and its residents. As more businesses invest in the City of St. Louis, the more our region grows.”
“Anheuser-Busch Employees’ Credit Union has a strong, nearly 80-year history of serving the St. Louis City community,” said Congressman Lacy Clay. “In addition to investing in the new headquarters, by choosing to work with local laborers and relocating 30 jobs to the downtown area, the credit union has shown a true commitment to the City of St. Louis. We are honored that ABECU will continue to call St. Louis City home, and look forward to seeing the credit union grow in this community.”
The 130,000-square-foot headquarters boasts a new Member branch that provides ABECU Members with more access and resources to reach their financial goals, including extended drive-thru teller and lobby hours, interactive teller machines (ITMs) with real-time video, and a new account and loan application service bar. As the ABECU Credit Union expands in St. Louis, this is slated to have a very positive economic impact on the St. Louis region, as a whole.
“We are proud to be headquartered in St. Louis City and we look forward to continuing to support and invest in our local community and all of the markets we serve nationwide,” said Robert McKay, ABECU CEO. “Our new space will allow us to serve even more Members and will provide our employees with a truly collaborative workspace where our business can continue to grow and thrive.”
ABECU worked with top banking design firm DBSI to design the new headquarters with a focus on the employee experience. The modern space features many elements to enhance the ABECU work environment, including an open floor plan with meeting spaces to enhance innovation and collaboration, an on-site café, an outdoor patio space, gated parking and more.“We designed the new headquarters with our employees’ happiness and wellbeing in mind,” McKay said. “The first-class working environment will help us to continue retaining and recruiting top talent, ultimately enhancing the high service levels our Members have come to expect.”
