World Trade Center Hosts Chinese Delegation at Missouri Botanical Garden

Chinese representatives traveled from Jiangsu Province and St. Louis' sister city, Nanjing, China.

The World Trade Center St. Louis and St. Louis-Nanjing Sister City Committee welcomed a delegation from Jiangsu Province and Nanjing, China on May 23 at the Missouri Botanical Garden.

Fang Wei, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, and Zhiyi Deng, Vice Mayor of Nanjing, led a ceremony to present St. Louis with a dragon boat that symbolizes the 44th anniversary of the St. Louis and Nanjing partnership. Jared Boyd, Chief of Staff for St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones, accepted the dragon boat on behalf of St. Louis.

Other speakers at the ceremony included Jian Zhao, the Consul General of China in Chicago, Dr. Joel Glassman, former President of St. Louis-Nanjing Sister Cities Committee, former Missouri Governor, Bob Holden and President of the Missouri Botanical Garden, Peter Wyse Jackson.

The dragon boat will soon be on display at the Missouri History Museum.
