STLCC Hosts Open House at New Advanced Manufacturing Center

STL Partnership tours new $51.8 million facility added to Florissant Valley campus
On July 10, members of St. Louis Economic Development Partnership (STL Partnership) attended an open house at St. Louis Community College (STLCC) at its new Advanced Manufacturing Center, a $51.8 million facility designed to train students in various technical fields on the school’s Florissant Valley campus.
The state-of-the-art building, which opened in April, will provide training in engineering, manufacturing, technology and technical trades. It will prepare students for careers in HVAC, welding, electronics and biomedical equipment repair, plus additional fields. All educational programs are expected to be ready in August.
This new facility is part of the STLCC Transformed project, the college’s plan to modernize facilities and programming in an effort to meet Missouri workforce demands, as well as improve the overall student experience. There will be six new buildings and some renovations at existing spaces at each of STLCC’s four main campuses. In addition to the Advanced Manufacturing Center, this includes a new Nursing and Health Sciences Center on the Florissant Valley campus.
Support for the project came from the St. Louis community and the passing of Proposition R. Proposition R was passed during a special election held on August 3rd, which included an eight-cent tax levy increase.
