Resources, help available for those in need

As St. Louis continues to recover from the tornado that shook several parts of the region on May 16, many resources are available for those who are in need and those who want to help, but don’t know where to turn.

Shelters

 

Call 1-800-Red-Cross (1-800-733-2767) for housing assistance.

* Identification and proof of residency are not required to be admitted to a Red Cross shelter. Services of the American Red Cross are free and available to everyone.

Health/Medical Assistance

 

STL City Gov Disability Resources 

 

STL Rx Outreach 90 Day Supply Relief Fund Starting May 19, the Rx Outreach team will be available to support patients utilizing this new fund. If you lost prescription medication due to the storm contact Rx Outreach for assistance. Please spread the word to those that may need it, and call 314-222-0472.

The American Red Cross can also help with replacing lost prescription medications, prescription glasses, etc. Call 1-800-RED-CROSS for details.

Haven Recovery has a Wound Care/ Outreach Van with a mobile shower with 2 pods which will be available starting Thursday, May 22nd. Please contact Callan Montgomery at 314-930-9384, or email callan@havenrecoverystl.com

Betty Jean Kerr People’s Health Centers – Offering free medication refills to any patients who lost the prescription medication in the storm. Available only this week at their 5701 Delmar Blvd Pharmacy location. For questions contact 314-367-7848.

Transportation Assistance

Metro

Beginning May 19th, Metro Transit will be picking up residents in The Ville at the Save A Lot on Natural Bridge.

In the evening, pickup time each night is 8:00 pm from designated community locations to designated shelters.

In the morning, pickup time each morning is 9:00 am from designated shelters, which will then take residents back to the designated community pickup location they arrived from.

Community Pick-up/Drop-Off Locations:

 

·         Ville Location: Save A Lot parking lot 4447 Natural Bridge Road Ave.

·         Academy Sherman Park Location 5200 Cates Ave

 

Red Cross Shelters – Drop off locations for each day may change between one of these four locations:

Monetary Donations

City of St. Louis Tornado Response Fund – The City of St. Louis has worked with the St. Louis Community Foundation to establish the City of St. Louis Tornado Response Fund. This fund supports efforts to provide immediate relief and long-term rebuilding of areas impacted by the storms.

United Way Relief Fund – In addition to the City of St. Louis Tornado Relief Fund, you can also make contributions to the United Way of Greater St. Louis Severe Storm/Tornado Relief Fund, which supports residents across the bi-state region who were impacted by the recent storms.

Miscellaneous Resources and Tips

 

Wear masks while outdoors to protect yourselves from Tornado lung- there is debris with asbestos, mold, dust, etc. Masks are available at 4343 W. Florissant with frequent drop offs

Support Small Businesses – Through the St. Louis Development Corporation, the City has set up an assessment form to help understand the needs of businesses impacted by the storm.

Daytime Drop-In Support

If you need a place to rest, recharge or cool down, St. Louis Public Libraries are here for you. Whether you’re looking for access to resources or simply a break from the elements, the doors to 13 of our locations are open during operating hours.

The Cabanne and Julia Davis locations remain closed while damage is being assessed and clean up is underway.
