Freddie Lee’s Gourmet Sauces Grand Opening Ceremony

Freddie Lee's Gourmet Sauces can be found in 43 Schnucks stores around the region.

Freddie Lee’s Gourmet Sauces recently celebrated the grand opening of their new production facility in downtown St. Louis. Husband and wife owners, Freddie and Deborah James, create all-purpose sauces that can be used for marinating meat, dipping sauce, pasta sauce and more.

Freddie and Deborah started out selling their sauces and giving samples at small stores, farmers markets and various events around the St. Louis region. As their demand grew, the duo began searching for funding to expand operations.

The company received two loans totaling $650,000. The St. Louis Local Development Company, staffed by the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership (STL Partnership) and St. Louis Development Corporation (SLDC), and the St. Louis Community Credit Union worked to help secure the funding for Freddie Lee’s.

The company used the funding to purchase a new property located at 1900-1926 Carr Street in the Carr Square neighborhood along with equipment to help increase and improve their sauce making capabilities.

“I’ve been using Freddie’s sauce since I was younger when my dad brought it home from the Soulard Farmers Market,” said Zack Folk, Business Loan Officer at STL Partnership. “I’m incredibly excited to have been a part of helping their business grow in North St. Louis. The James’ are wonderful and passionate people, and I’m glad to get to know them and their business through their financing process.”

Freddie Lee’s Gourmet Sauces can be found in 305 stores across the St. Louis region and in parts of Iowa and Minnesota.
