The City of Dellwood recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for a state-of-the-art outdoor skating rink. The unique facility will be the first outdoor skating rink in the North County area and will be located at the Dellwood Recreation Center at 10266 West Florissant Rd.

“The City of Dellwood has remained steadfast and committed to providing high level services and amenities to their constituents and those that work here in North County,” said Cordaryl Patrick, Assistant Vice President for Community Investment at the STL Partnership. “Today they are continuing that spirit with the erection of a state-of-the art outdoor skating rink that will draw people from across the entire region to Dellwood and North County.”

The facility will feature bleachers, two elevated picnic areas, permanent barbecue pits, an outdoor audio system and lights for evening activities. “We are proud to be able to build something not just for the city of Dellwood but for all of North County to use,” said City of Dellwood Mayor, Reggie Jones.

Newly elected Ferguson Mayor Ella Jones was also a guest speaker at the event and expressed excitement for the new facility. “We are working together to build a great community,” said Jones.

“These type of projects are the things that help build the community and keep the community safer,” said Wesley Bell, St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney.

A Municipal League Park grant helped pay for the rink. The project is expected to be complete by the end of September 2020.
