Expert shares international travel safety tips with St. Louis business leaders
At the end of June, the World Trade Center St. Louis (WTC) welcomed St. Louis business leaders for an engaging seminar on international travel safety. It was led by Bret Brooks, chief operating officer of Gray Ram Tactical, LLC. The event began with lunch and networking before attendees participated in an interactive session designed to help business travelers prepare for international travel.
Throughout the seminar, Brooks emphasized the message: “Be prepared, not paranoid.” Drawing on his extensive experience, he shared practical strategies and real-world examples to help attendees recognize and mitigate risks before, during, and after international travel.
The seminar covered a wide range of topics, including researching destination-specific risks, understanding the international threat landscape, evaluating political instability and crime, preparing for health and environmental hazards, and protecting against cybersecurity threats. Brooks also introduced attendees to valuable resources from the U.S. Department of State, including the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), and offered guidance on airport and hotel security, transportation safety, crisis response, situational awareness, and risk-based decision-making.
In addition to sharing personal experiences from his career, Brooks engaged the audience with interactive discussions and physical demonstrations throughout the presentation. The seminar provided practical and actionable information for professionals who travel abroad for business.
