Speakers from different parts of the world educate audience at Engage in Trade

On March 10, World Trade Center St. Louis (WTC) hosted an Engage in Trade, its monthly educational series, at its headquarters with a focus on international women. With International Women’s Day recently occurring on March 8, the speakers at the event were three women from three different countries who are now settled in the St. Louis region.

With a theme of “Give to Gain,” which emphasizes the power of reciprocity and support, the speakers at the March Engage in Trade were:

  • Susan Dealis Gobbo, founder of the International Spouses/Expat Women’s Group, co-founder of International Mentoring St. Louis, co-founder of Immigrant Professional Women Network in St. Louis and a native of Brazil
  • Iryna Dodds, director at Pfizer, director of U.S. Operations at VFF-Metal Processing and originally from Ukraine
  • Schneidine Louis, director of the SBDC International Trade Center at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a native from Haiti.

During the panel discussion, which was moderated by Susan Spitz, international business development specialist at WTC, the audience learned about how the speakers have overcome adversity in their home countries and in the U.S. Also, mentoring opportunities that are available for foreign born women in St. Louis, how the speakers’ contributions are making an impact—both throughout St. Louis and across the globe—and any advice they had for women looking to start or advance their careers in St. Louis.
