Square Chooses #Stl
We are thrilled to welcome Square to the City of St. Louis!
Today, Square is announcing hundreds of new jobs in St. Louis. The revolutionary payment company, started by St. Louis-natives Jack Dorsey and Jim McKelvey, will locate a new office in Cortex, giving Square a central location to grow its product and be part of our innovation community.
From the first meeting with Jim in my office to the announcement today, it took a talented team to win this project: St. Louis Economic Development Partnership, Governor Jay Nixon, Missouri Department of Economic Development, Missouri Partnership among others. This was an extremely heated competition, and it’s clear our team made a strong case for St. Louis.
Jack Dorsey says of St. Louis: There’s talent all over the country, not just on the coasts. St. Louis is home to more than 10,000 Square sellers, and we’re thrilled to become more ingrained into the fabric of the city.
Our tech sector is taking off in unbelievable ways. I have no doubt this will have many other innovative companies standing up and taking notice to what is happening here.

The Square team had great things to say about St. Louis. The scouts told us they could really see themselves living here. They knew we had the right talent to build a great team, but they also commented on what great neighborhoods and cultural amenities we have all around us. I agree.
Welcome to St. Louis, Square! Hiring begins immediately.
