Team introduced to MaryvilleWORKS program

The Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) team held an on-site meeting on January 29 at Maryville University in Creve Coeur, Mo. Hosted by Dr. Scott Chadwick, interim dean of the Simon School of Business at Maryville University, the group received an introduction to MaryvilleWORKS, a workforce development program that accelerates skills training.

MaryvilleWORKS collaborates with companies and organizations to provide market-relevant, personalized workforce development strategies that are created to meet their needs and complement the companies’ business strategies. St. Louis companies that have already taken part in the program include Keeley, Axiom and Rung for Women.

The BRE team links St. Louis companies with government and economic development officials to ensure business owners, leaders and entrepreneurs know who to contact regarding opportunities or challenges. Since its inception in May 2020, the BRE team has met with more than 180 companies and assisted nearly 150 firms. The team has had a standing meeting every Friday afternoon during that time to discuss ongoing BRE issues in the community.

The BRE team consists of representatives from St. Louis Economic Development Partnership, World Trade Center St. Louis, St. Louis Mosaic Project, St. Louis Development Corporation, Greater St. Louis, Inc., the Missouri Department of Economic Development, Spire, Ameren, St. Louis County Workforce and St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE).
