Promise Zone Community Library Box Installed in Ferguson

Free Library Materials Available at Starbucks Community Café

The first indoor Promise Zone community library box is now available inside the Ferguson Starbucks Community Café, located at 10776 W. Florissant Ave.

The box was installed at a Coffee with First Responders event, where community members were invited to come enjoy coffee with area emergency personnel as they collected donations for the inaugural “Be the Change Toy Drive.” The artwork for the box was completed by local artist Cbabi Bayoc.

This summer, the St. Louis Promise Zone partnered with the Regional Business Council and St. Louis County Library to increase early literacy. St. Louis County Library has generously provided books from their Recycled Reads program to new community library box sites throughout the Promise Zone. The program takes surplus library materials and gives them a new life by circulating them throughout the community. No library card is required, and there are no fines or due dates. Borrowers are asked to return items when they’re finished to the original locale.

Other boxes already installed by the Promise Zone are located at:

  • EarthDance Farms, 233 S. Dade Ave. in Ferguson
  • Lion’s Park, intersection of Lucas & Hunt Rd. and Blewett Ave. in St. Louis
  • Newbit-Newton Park, 1150 Nesbit Dr. in St. Louis

Stay tuned for more information as additional boxes are installed throughout the Zone!
