Port Authority Wins Award

The Organization Was Honored for Its Work in Lemay

The St. Louis County Port Authority, which is staffed by the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership, was recently awarded the Missouri Park and Recreation Association’s (MPRA) Citation Award for its work in the Lemay community.  The MPRA Citation Award is a statewide recognition of organizations with impactful contributions to parks and recreation for the citizens of Missouri.

While the Port Authority has supported projects throughout St. Louis County, most of the parks and recreation projects have been in Lemay.  It has supported projects like the Missouri Civil War Museum, Friends of Jefferson Barracks and Jefferson Barracks Heritage Foundation.

The Port Authority paid for and built a state-of-the-art 45,000-foot recreation center, known as The Pavilion at Lemay. It then donated the facility to St. Louis County Parks to operate.

The Port Authority also secured two ongoing, dedicated taxes levied on River City Hotel and Casino to help offset a portion of The Pavilion at Lemay.

About MPRA:  The Missouri Park and Recreation Association is the state professional organization for parks and recreation. MPRA advocates the quality of life through effective use of parks and recreation opportunities, education and resources.
