STL Metro Transit is offering half-priced tickets for young men and women between the ages of 13-25 through the end of August.  Monthly passes are now available for the discounted rate of $39, while two-hour passes can be obtained for just $1.50.  One-ride tickets are only $1 for the MetroBus and $1.25 for the MetroLink.  Transit fares can be loaded to Gateway Go Cards.

“I feel like this is a milestone day,” St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson said the program’s press conference.  “In St. Louis City and County, there are 60,000 households that don’t own a car and rely on public transportation.  Young people can now get to jobs, job interviews, summer school, recreation centers, their friends, shopping (and other destinations) — all at half price.”

The Gateway Go Card will make it easier for young people in the bi-state region to take Metro Transit to get where they need and want to go.  Investing in young people is an important investment to the future of the St. Louis region and local economy.

Gateway Go Cards can be purchased at the MetroStore (8th and Pine Streets in Downtown St. Louis), Metro Transit Access Center (317 DeBaliviere Avenue) or through the Gateway InfoBus at events, summer festivals and community centers.  Proof of age must be provided via a driver’s license, state ID, school ID, birth certificate or passport for purchase.

The Partnership and STL Metro Transit have joined the City of St. Louis, St. Louis County, St. Clair County, St. Clair County Transit District and Bi-State Development to make this summer program possible.
