For the second time in 2015, HUD Secretary Julian Castro visited St. Louis, Missouri.
August 19, at a press conference in Clayton, Secretary Castro announced St. Louis County will receive $24 million to aid community development projects in distressed areas, and $2.5 million in disaster response funds for areas affected by the 2013 Hazelwood tornado.

In April, Secretary Castro was in St. Louis to announce the U.S. Promise Zone designation. The classification means preferential access to federal agencies and programs, and new resources to improve job training, education, healthcare, law enforcement and crime prevention.
I am working to improve the region’s most economically disadvantaged areas. HUD’s assistance will have an enormous impact on our community. Many thanks to Secretary Castro and his administration for their commitment to St. Louis County.
