Boys & Girls Club of Greater St. Louis Teen Center of Excellence Celebrates Grand Opening

Grand Opening for New Teen Center of Excellence

The City of Ferguson along with community members celebrated the grand opening of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater St. Louis Teen Center of Excellence on Thursday October, 3rd.

This is exciting news as the Teen Center of Excellence is one of the first in the country. The facility is over 26,000 square feet and will offer a variety of different resources for teens ages 12-18. The newly built $12.4 million center located on West Florissant Ave. will house an innovation center, recording studio, a nutrition education center, outdoor garden, gymnasium, intellectual commons, auditorium, activity center, office space and a music and art studio.

After school and summer programs will be provided in the North County area. Programs will include emphasis on education and workforce development, (college tours, ACT/SAT prep, tutoring, job readiness, internships and summer employment) STEAM (visual & performing arts, coding, app creation, robotics) and, leadership and civic engagement. (community service, character programs and advocacy training)

The Teen Center is located in the Promise Zone and is scheduled to be fully functioning soon. “We are excited about the project and commitment from the Boys & Girls Club to provide resources and programming for teens in the area. This is positive step to move forward in the community and will offer great benefits for young people,” said Erica Henderson, Executive Director for the Promise Zone.
