Apply today for the Neighborhood Leadership Fellows Program.

The Neighborhood Leadership Fellows (NLF) program is now accepting applications. NLF works to increase and amplify the voices of North St. Louis City and North St. Louis County residents at the civic decision-making tables in order to produce more equitable regional policies for neighborhoods.

The primary geographic focus area is neighborhoods within the St. Louis Promise Zone. “This partnership is designed to build civic leadership and empower residents to utilize their voice within the community.” said St. Louis Promise Zone Executive Director, Erica Henderson.

The NLF program is a nine-month advanced leadership training in Partnership with UMSL Extension focused on North St Louis City and North County. This Fellowship provides hands-on workshops on policy, research, and innovation promoting equitable neighborhood development. The program also offers positional power trainings for boards, commissions, and public office. In addition participants master collaborative learning through dialogue and presentations among fellows and experts and civic mentoring from leaders and peers.

Graduates of the program have been successful in pursuing their goals. Some accomplishments of the graduates include, winning the election for State Representative, selected to be community champion for Trailnet and being reelected to a municipal aldermanic board.

Luther Tyus is a successful graduate of the NLF program. “It has been an honor to work with my other fellows. This group is a wealth of knowledge. Also, the presenters have provided an outlet for different ideas and a world of opportunities that are at our disposal to explore and cultivate.” said Tyus.
